ParaPara / パラパラ (pronounced pah-ra pah-ra) is a Japanese dance phenomenon that involves a basic step motion paired with specific arm and upper body movements. ParaPara dancing is performed to upbeat electronic music known as eurobeat. A related style, known as Techpara, is catered specifically to a genre of music called hyper techno. The ParaPara dance craze is currently undergoing its fourth boom in Japan, thanks to a burst of Gal culture. ParaPara dancers (often called Paralists) have begun to pop up all across the world, and its growing popularity is undeniable.

The ParaPara Allstars (Maki, Miho, Richie, Ryoko, Satoko, and [ex] Tomomi) was a parapara dance group formed by Avex, the company largely responsible for the popularity of eurobeat in Japan. The Allstars released a series of seven parapara video collections under the title ParaPara Paradise before disbanding in late 2002. A new series of parapara video compilations called Gazen! ParaPara is currently picking up where ParaPara Paradise left off. This series stars popular Gal models, and features both new and old tracks. The We ♥ Techpara series, which premiered in August of 2005, also features various techpara routines. A number of other video collections have popped up during the recent ParaPara and Techpara boom, such as LovePara. These and other video/audio collections can be purchased via import sites such as CD Japan and HMV.

American Dream (Mina, Maggie, and Erin) is a ParaPara & Techpara unit that was formed in June 2005 by Toshiro "Gon-S" Takano of Avex. American Dream is the first ParaPara team to represent the United States in Japan, and is an active part of promoting ParaPara dancing in North America.

The American Dream website is currently in its second incarnation, having moved from Girljin.com (August 2005 - December 2006) to its new home at Candy-Cadet.net in March of 2007.
